"I am a California native who moved to Utah in 1995. My interest in art began in the fourth grade when I won a Los Angeles City Schools art competition for a watercolor painting of a California mission. I took oil painting classes from age eleven to fifteen, and art and fashion design courses in high school. I didn't feel I was gifted enough to pursue a career in art. I attended UC Santa Barbara and received a degree in Sociology and later earned a degree in Dental Hygiene at Sacramento City College.

While living in Sacramento, I began taking watercolor and drawing classes at American River College. I painted mostly still life and old Victorian houses. I was just beginning to be accepted into juried shows, win awards, and sell some of my work when my husband's job brought us to Ogden in 1995.

I am an active member of the Palette Club of Ogden, serving as President and Treasurer, and the Eccles Art Center where am a docent for the Art To Go program and teach children's art classes during Summer Art Camp.

Since moving to Utah, I have become a two-star member of the Utah Watercolor Society and had shows with Julie Brandt at the Layton Heritage Museum and the Gallery at the Station at Ogden's Union Station. I have been accepted to many juried shows, my proudest being the "Utah Women Artists Exhibition" at the Springville Museum of Art in June 2000.

I have retired from dental hygiene to work as an artist full time. I have joined Gallery 25, an artists' cooperative on 25 Street, and share a studio with artist Cara Koolmees above the Bistro Restaurant on 25th Street.

My work has evolved since moving to Utah. I work in acrylic, gouache, mixed media, collage, oil pastel, charcoal, and printmaking. My paintings have grown more abstract with inspiration from the mountains and canyons around me. "Mood" is what I am after in my paintings, and I'll use whatever medium that best achieves it."
