WHAT IS A GICLEE PRINT?

Fine Arts Gallery offers the latest in digital imaging technology to produce photo quality images.  Artwork is scanned or digitally captured with a high-resolution digital camera (professionally photographed) or scanned, stored in a computer and printed on a large format printer with pigmented inks.

Giclee (pronounced zshee-clay) is a term that is used to describe the process of high quality inkjet printing for art reproduction purposes.  The word "Giclee" is used to differentiate a high quality, high-resolution inkjet printer versus a regular desktop printer.

Artwork is printed on a variety of archival substrates such as canvas and watercolor papers.  Because pigmented inks have a smaller color gamut than dye based inks, the colors may not be accurately reproduced.  However, we work closely with clients to review and "fine tune" proofs to match the color as close as possible.

We print on the following substrates: high quality artist canvas, watercolor papers and photographic papers.

SETUP CHARGES ASSOCIATED WITH GICLEE PRINTMAKING

We can capture most artwork digitally with a high-resolution camera for a charge of $40.00. This service includes (2) 8 1/2 x11 proofs. Or, if you have a transparency of your artwork, you can send it to us. Please call us for details. You can also submit your artwork on a CD disk (color correction services are available for an additional charge). If you provide us your artwork on a CD disk then proofs are charged at the standard printing price.  Images can be copied onto a CD for a charge of $10. We can provide standard Certificates of Authenticity upon request at no additional charge.

We support PC files on a variety of formats including JPEG, TIFF and Photoshop files as well as most major digital camera media.  When submitting images on a disk, we recommended you send your work as RGB files, at 100% output size and at least 300 DPI.  Please call us if you want to send your work via our FTP site.

Printing prices vary depending on the type of media your are selecting, the size the the print run.
