Colette Bradford
"I am a native of Utah, living in Brigham City. As a small child I spent a lot of time drawing, coloring and painting. A lot of times I wanted to be left alone to create instead of playing with friends. I dreamed of seeing my paintings in galleries and museums. During Junior High and High School, I learned all I could form my art teachers to become sterling scholar in art in 1982.
In 1982 to 1990 I spent most of my time painting wildlife. I was one of the 10 finalists for the Artist of the Year Competition for Ducks Unlimited International. I've also donated waterfall paintings to raise money for Ducks Unlimited, Brigham City, Box Elder and Cache Valley Chapters. In 1988 I was one of the top 5 artists in the Utah State Waterfall Stamp Competition.
In the late 80's to early 90's, I attended U.S.U. and studied anatomy and life drawings with Professor Adrian Van Suchtelen, and took workshops throughout the summer. During this time, I became more interested in still life and floral art. I like it because I don't have to worry about the objects moving and my paintings are from the actual set-ups. My still life set-ups are composed of items that mean something to me, for example gifts from family and friends and things I find. I've traveled and studied art in Washington D.C., Italy, France, Switzerland, and England with groups of artists.
In 1996, I designed a Centennial blanket made by Baron's Rocky Mountain Wool Corp., and Brigham City's Centennial Banners, which hang form vintage light poles along the city's main street, and later designed T-shirts modeled after the banner.
I have exhibited and won several awards in Regional and National Shows, participated group invitational and one person exhibits in galleries and art museums. My artwork has been displayed in several Utah Galleries including The Eccles Art Center in Ogden, The Kimball Art Center in Park City and the Springville Museum of Art and in private collections across the United States."
